When it comes to aesthetics Maman’s gotta be one of the most well known french coffee shops in New York City. With more than 20 locations in New York City, you will have no difficulty finding a Maman no matter where you live.

All of the Mamans have a similar rustic theme; even their coffee cups are pleasing to the eye. Having been to several different Mamans in the city, the most beautiful one would have to be the one near Soho.

The interior of this particular cafe is rustic and chic, with lush green plants and a quaint atmosphere. As a full service cafe, you can find a variety of drinks, baked goods and brunch food that will delight all of your senses.

This particular Maman is also a great place to work/study from because there are outlets along the wall, and the building has free wifi and a bathroom.

Cafe Lyria

Address: 166 Crosby St, New York, NY 10012
Hours: 8am to 5pm daily

New York has its fair share of French cafes but how about a Greek inspired coffee shop?

Tucked away in the lobby of 166 Crosby Street, Cafe Lyria is a true oasis in the middle of a bustling Noho. Here you will find lush greeneries and a number of Greek art pieces and statue.

Greek inspired decorations are not the only things you will find at Cafe Lyria, they also have Greek inspired coffee and the most famous drinks are the Lyria as well as Freddo Cappuccino.

Apparently this place was famous on Tiktok (which I didn’t realize since I don’t use Tiktok), but if it’s viral on Tiktok you know this place is pretty.

Ost Cafe

Address: 511 Grand St, New York, NY 10002
Hours: 7:30am – 3pm Monday to Friday; 8am – 3pm Saturday and Sundays

Tucked away in LES, this cozy neighborhood cafe boasts a old world industrial vibe with its exposed bricks.

It’s not a floral cafe by any means but I do love the plants combined with the rustic interior. One thing I love about Ost Cafe is that most customers are locals that live around there and the price of drinks are actually very reasonable compare to other cafes in Manhattan.

Cafe Atelier

Address: 112 Hudson St, New York, NY 10013
Hours: 7am – 6pm Monday to Friday; 8am – 6pm Saturdays; 8am – 5pm Sundays

Another flower shop + cafe combo to put on your list is Cafe Atelier, located in Tribeca.

Owned by Alice Kil, this cute flower cafe not only offers instagram worthy rose latte and lavender latte that are decorated with real flowers, they also offer pastries and a nice afternoon tea sea that are not found at other cafes.

In addition, Cafe Atelier offers flower arrangement and candle making class, which you can sign up on their website.

Urban Backyard

Address: 180 Mulberry St, New York, NY 10012
Hours: 7:30am – 6pm Monday to Friday; 8:30am – 7pm Sat & Sun

Urban Backyard is a small yet cozy cafe in Soho (yup in case you haven’t noticed, Soho has a lot of cute coffee shops).

The interior or Urban Backyard has a very zen feeling with its lush green plants and wooden furniture. This earthy feeling is accomplished by their cactus themed cupcakes (which are only available after 12pm).

Besides the usual coffee drinks, you will also find seasonal drinks like autumn spiced latte, ube latte, peppermint Candy Mocha as well as a variety of homemade pastries like the earl grey banana bread.

If you go early during the day you may be lucky enough to get a table but there are also some seatings outside. I was able to score a table with outlet there but there is no wifi available unfortunately.

Rosecrans Florist & Cafe

Address: 7 Greenwich Ave, New York, NY 10014
Hours: 8am – 8pm daily

If there is one floral cafe that I have to pick it would probably be Rosecrans. Located in the West Village, Rosecrans is a super cute flower shop with a cafe inside.

The interior is absolutely beautiful with so many flowers and plants. It’s the perfect place to go on a date or just relax and read a book while absorbing the floral scent in the air. They have a variety of great coffee and teas as well as pastries including the Instagrammable Teddy Bear Madelaine.

Note that you cannot use laptop or iPad inside (they have signs on each table). You can only use laptop outside.

Cafe-Flor is more than just a coffee shop, it is a coffee shop combined with flowers and plants and it turns into a bar at night.

The space is large and roomy and the interior is tastefully decorated, making one feel like they are in a old French movie. There are plants and flowers everywhere and you will find lots of paintings and art works in one of the two rooms at the cafe.

Cafe-Flor is perfect to meeting friends or reading a book; although you can certainly work or study here, there is no wifi at the cafe (or it doesn’t work very well) and the music can be loud.

The cafe has both an inside and outside section, with the inside elegantly decorated and the outside simply aesthetically pleasing. This small and cozy cafe offers the highest quality tea imported from Japan and coffee drinks and is run by a local Japanese couple. The inside is tastefully decorated with plants and gives off a vintage vibe. There is only one bench inside so not much seating space but it is a coffee shop not to be missed.

They have pop-up events in the shop sometimes. If you want to take photos of this tiny coffee shop it’s best to check their Instagram and avoid days when they have pop-up events going on.

Homecoming

Address: 92 Berry St, Brooklyn, NY 11249
Hours: 8am – 6pm Monday to Thursday; 8am – 7pm Friday to Sunday

When it comes to flower coffee shops in Brooklyn, Homecoming is probably on everyone’s list.

Located in the center of lively Williamsburg, Homecoming is a popular coffee shop with a florist inside. This space also has a nice private backyard where you can enjoy your coffee as well as outdoor seating. Besides flowers and drinks, Homecoming also has a small selection of pottery that you can purchase.

There is no bathroom at Homecoming for guests, so plan accordingly if you plan to stay and work/study for more than a couple of hours.

Carlota

Address: 65 Richardson St, Brooklyn, NY 11211
Hours: 10:30am – 6pm Tuesday to Friday; 10am – 5pm Saturday; closed Sunday and Monday

Carlota is a true hidden gem in Williamsburg; it is more known for its flower shop than the cafe part. As you sip on your coffee, you can admire at all the beautiful flower arrangements and the vases the cafe has to offer. Do keep in mind that sometimes the shop is closed when the owner is out delivering flowers.

Debutea Brooklyn

Address: 71 Smith St, Brooklyn, NY 11201
Hours: 9:30am – 9pm daily

Debutea is a beautiful tea shop in downtown Brooklyn, known for their high quality and innovative tea drinks. This tea house is no ordinary bubble tea shop as they don’t use fructose, powder, creamer or artificial flavoring in their drinks.

The interior is pretty with flowers and plants at a couple of corners. There is a quiet area in the back that is perfect for working and studying. If you do get hungry they have yummy poke bowl, salad and other healthy food options.

Plants & Floral Coffee Shops in Queens

Kunst Coffee Haus

Address: 212-08 41st Ave, Queens, NY 11361

Kunst Coffee Haus is one of the only plants and flower coffee house that I found in Queens (so far) but it is a good one for sure.

Kunst Cafe in Bayside Queens plants cafe in NYC

Located in Bay Side, Kunst Coffee Haus offers a variety of coffee drinks, desserts and brunch options. If you want the instagram worthy latte then be sure to get the Rose Latte or the Rose Matcha Latte. There are also many cute seasonal drinks like the sweet potato latte and peppermint mocha latte (although menu may change each year).

The interior is cozily decorated with tons of plants and some flowers, making you feel like you are in a botanic garden or a conservatory. There are two levels inside and additional seating outdoors.

Bonus: Flower Cafes in New Jersey and Connecticut

I know you came here to look for flower coffee shops in New York City but I would hate to not include some of the other floral cafes in the tristate area.

If you are looking for flower cafes in New Jersey, then be sure to stop by Casa De Flora Bar in Bloomfield New Jersey.

There are a couple of cute flower coffee shops in Connecticut:

  • Hayfields Cafe & Florist in North Salem
  • Verde Galerie Flower Shop & Cafe in Stamford

So what do you think is the best plants or flower cafes in New York City? Yeah I know it’s a hard decision to make given they are all very pretty and unique in their own ways.

There are definitely a number of these cafes that I would keep going back to in order to try different drinks and food.

Cafe-Flor Coffee Shop with flowers

Are the flower cafes good for working/ studying? To be honest most of the “flower” cafes are actually not great for working or studying since they have very small tables and don’t have outlets or wifi. But the plants coffee shops are definitely great for working. If you are looking to study from a flower cafe, then my recommendation would be Maman (the specific one in this post) and the upstairs of Ariston Coffee Bar where there are outlets.
